Dr Kai Uus MD PhD, Biography:
Reader in Audiology, University of Manchester. I am a paediatrician by background, but quite early on in my career I developed an interest in paediatric audiology. I came to the UK in 1998 as a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow to do my PhD in Audiological Medicine. After I completed my thesis, Prof John Bamford invited me to work with him on the evaluation of the NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) in England. My main research interest is in Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder primarily in infants, but also in adult patient populations. I am the Manchester Centre for Audiology & Deafness Teaching Lead as well as the programme director for the Scientist Training Programme in Neurosensory Science and an academic lead for Higher Specialist Scientific Training in Physiological Sciences at the University of Manchester.
