Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) Webinar

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) Webinar

Rationale:

To meet an identified CPD need. For speech and language therapists (SLTs), understanding APD and applying effective treatment and management strategies is essential for providing holistic support to individuals affected by this condition.

Overview:

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) can significantly impact a person's ability to interpret, understand, and respond to sounds, especially speech. For speech and language therapists (SLTs), understanding APD and applying effective treatment and management strategies is essential for providing holistic support to individuals affected by this condition.

This one-hour webinar, led by Fiona O’Sullivan, will provide a comprehensive overview of auditory processing disorder, including the latest research, diagnostic techniques, and evidence-based treatments. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how to identify APD in clients, collaborate with other professionals (audiologists, psychologists, occupational therapists, etc.) and effective management strategies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the underlying mechanisms of Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)
  2. Be able to differentiate APD from other disorders with overlapping symptoms, such as ADHD or language delays.
  3. Learn the latest diagnostic methods used to identify APD.
  4. Explore evidence-based management strategies for improving auditory processing abilities.
  5. Gain practical insights into collaboration with audiologists involved in APD management.
