Feeding Development in Children with Neurodisabilities - 11th December 2024 Details

Overview:

This 2-hour online workshop will provide Speech-Language Therapists (SLTs) with insights into feeding development in children with neurodisabilities. Participants will explore skill acquisition and the unique characteristics of this population, focusing on how these factors impact feeding abilities. SLTs will discuss assessment and intervention planning, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration within a holistic framework. A case study will illustrate practical approaches, equipping SLTs with knowledge and strategies to enhance feeding outcomes for children with neurodisabilities.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify key characteristics of neurodisability and their effects on paediatric feeding development
  • Describe feeding skill acquisition in children with neurodisabilities.
  • Identify the risks associated with feeding patterns in children with neurodisabilities.
  • Determine suitable referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify approaches in management of paediatric feeding development in Neurodisability.
