Who is this webinar for?
This webinar is for IASLT members and the wider speech and language therapy community who are interested in learning more about the background of Gestalt Language Processing in terms of the research literature, critically reviewing and monitoring evidence and reflecting on how clinicians might move forward with tracking outcomes and contributing to the evidence base to inform clinical decisions.
Description of webinar:
During this webinar Prof. Hemsley and colleagues will discuss the methods, outcomes and implications of their recent international study “Systematic Review of Interventions Based on Gestalt Language Processing and Natural Language Acquisition (GLP/NLA): Clinical Implications of Absence of Evidence and Cautions for Clinicians and Parents.”
In this webinar the authors will discuss the literature that was examined in the systematic review, including details of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The aim of the review was to identify any research reported outcomes related to communication, language, or behaviour in people with communication disability. The rationale, methods, and findings will be presented, along with implications from this review for speech and language therapists working with minimally or non-speaking individuals. The webinar will discuss/provide strategies to support clinicians in critically reviewing evidence to inform ethical decisions and clinician responsibility in monitoring outcomes of their clinician practice.
The seminar includes opportunities for questions and discussions with attendees.
