This two hour workshop will address the following questions:

  • What is a medico-legal report?
  • When is it needed?
  • How does it differ from a clinical speech and language therapy report?
  • How do you go about planning and writing a medico-legal report?
  • What resources are available to help you?

Speaker: Linda Coyle

Linda Coyle is a Speech & Language Therapist and Music Therapist with over 27 years’ experience across both public and private sectors within Ireland and New Zealand. She currently runs a private practice based in Clonakilty, Co. Cork. Since 2014, she has specialised in medico-legal work, working as an expert witness in providing medico-legal assessments and reports in relation to personal injury and medical negligence cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. She has undergone specific training in relation to medico-legal work, including a diploma in Medical Law from King’s Inns in 2020. In 2023, she qualified as an Intermediary at University of Limerick. She also engages in work relating to consent and capacity and recently completed the online Functional Capacity Training by the Decision Support Service.

Registration fee includes speaker fees and administrative fees. 

In the event of cancellation for IASLT events, applicants must give 7 days advance notice by emailing kathleencpdadmin@iaslt.ie. Otherwise, the fee is non-refundable. Notification of cancellation must be sent to kathleencpdadmin@iaslt.ie, and not to any other email

You will be contacted if you are approved for this course with a payment link.

Payments need to be made via the payment link provided as this is an integral step in our automatic event management system. Once you have made your payment via the link, your event registration is fully processed and you will receive your receipt and be included in other event notifications to participants.

If your employer will be covering the cost of this course,  we suggest that if possible you make the payment and recoup the cost. If this isn't possible, you may also copy your payment link and send to your accounts department so that they can make the payment by card.
