We are excited to announce that the Respiratory Muscle Strength Clinical Training will be running again in 2025. This year, registration is open to both public and private sector professionals, as well as individuals from all relevant disciplines. Based on feedback from last year’s event, we have divided the original 6-hour training day into two more manageable 3-hour sessions, running from 2pm to 5pm on both days.
Rationale and Course Overview:
Respiratory Muscle Strength Training (RMST) is a treatment modality for patients with impairments in speech, voice, cough, and/or swallowing. The primary goal of RMST is to increase the force-generating capacity of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles.
This workshop will cover the basic principles and clinical utility of RMST. It will include information on its theoretical underpinnings, report on outcome data, and present treatment approaches for patient groups using both inspiratory and expiratory training devices.
