The IASLT is the professional body for Speech and Language therapists in Ireland.
IASLT remains a Volunteer-led organisation, continuing to rely on the passion and dedication of our members who volunteer their time for the benefit of our profession and people that we service. Each Volunteer generously gives of their time and contributes to the development of standards of practice, influencing national strategy, enhancing the profile of the SLT community as we connect with multiple stakeholders to ensure SLT’s contribution to excellence in healthcare is recognised .
IASLT is an organisation run by its members for its members, which despite its size maintains a high profile nationally and internationally. Being a member means that you are part of the community of speech and language therapists in Ireland. It allows you to keep in contact with professional issues which influence your practice.
IASLT is part of an international mutual recognition agreement of professional association credentials, full membership of IASLT facilitates a smoother transition to working as an SLT in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

IASLT provides the following membership benefits:
IASLT have several membership categories to suit your circumstances; we welcome everyone from the SLT community to join us, student SLTs , practicing SLTs and retired or non-practicing members. We also have a membership category for overseas SLTs who wish to stay connected with us.
Students studying for a professional qualification in speech and language therapy in Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
For SLTs who haven't practiced for more than 2 years and wish to follow the return to full membership process. On successful completion, provisional members may transfer to the appropriate membership.
For newly graduated SLTs whose qualifications are recognised by the IASLT and are registered with CORU.
For non-practicing newly graduated SLTs whose qualifications are recognised by the IASLT and are registered with CORU.
For newly graduated SLTs , practicing overseas, whose qualifications are recognised by the IASLT and are eligible to register with CORU.
Retired and practicing members who have been awarded lifetime membership for their outstanding contribution to the profession.
Applies to members whose qualifications were validated by CORU, and are currently practising outside the Republic of Ireland.
Applies to those who have qualified overseas, and have not had their qualifications validated by CORU, and are practising outside the Republic of Ireland.

Those wishing to apply for full IASLT membership must be either qualified in the Republic of Ireland and registered with CORU or have qualified abroad and have had their qualifications validated by CORU and are now registered with CORU.
Applicants for full membership must also have worked during the past two years and agree to meet IASLT standards for continuing professional development. 5% of full members are audited each year (whether practising in Ireland or overseas).
